Troubleshooting

A job that exhausts its retries is dead-lettered, not dropped. It appears on the episode page with a Requeue button, which puts it back on the queue with a fresh lease. Your credit hold for a dead episode is released — a failure on our side does not cost you credits.

A source may require a login or block automatic downloads from our server. YouTube can reject a link even when it plays normally in your browser. Repeated retries do not resolve that access check. Use Upload the original file to add your recording directly; transcription and clip selection can then proceed. Any minutes reserved for the failed episode are returned. URLs pointing to private network addresses are also refused.

The caption file has no per-word timings. A plain .srt times whole cues, and word timings are what boundary snapping, active-word captions and the caption editor all read. Use a WebVTT with inline timestamps or a YouTube .json3 — or leave it blank and we will transcribe.

Check that your available credits cover the source’s minutes and that the file meets the upload limits. Every plan lets you spend the full credit balance on the episode lengths you choose. Installation-wide media safety limits still apply.

Translation needs a language model configured. Without one, nothing is written and the English captions are left exactly as they were. If the model returns the wrong number of cues the translation is refused outright rather than realigned — a shifted subtitle track is worse than no subtitle track.

Your plan limits how many jobs run at once. Extra work waits rather than failing. The episode page shows what is queued behind what.

The render row exists but its object does not — usually a render that failed QA after the row was created. Requeue it from the episode page.
